2023 GIRLS SOCCER TRYOUT INFORMATION
WHEN: Tryouts will be held Monday, March 6th and Tuesday, March 7th. A cut may be made after each day. Each player trying out for the team must have a ride home by 5:30. There will be an activity bus each day for those players who need a ride. If you are picking up your child from tryouts, please be here by 5:25. If any student is not picked up by 5:30, she will be placed on the activity bus for transportation home.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Each player should dress appropriately for soccer. Players are encouraged to wear shin guards and cleats, but parents are encouraged not to buy new equipment for tryouts. Please wait until after cuts are made before purchasing new soccer gear.
TEAM SELECTION: Players will be evaluated on their ability to shoot, pass, dribble, play defense, follow directions, and work well with others. Grades and behavior at school will also be considered before final cuts. We reserve the right to cut a player at anytime for grades or behavior issues either at school or at practice.
ELIGIBILITY: Roanoke City Schools requires physicals for Middle School sports. All players attending tryouts are required to have a physical on file in our school’s office before tryouts begin. It must be a VHSL physical form. Forms are available in the main office. Physicals on file from fall sports are good through the end of the year. Any student with an F or 3 on their last report card is ineligible to try out.
NOTE TO PARENTS: We are delighted that your daughter has expressed an interest in trying out for the team! Our only regret is that we cannot keep all players that tryout for the team. Please have your daughter return the bottom portion of this form so that we will know you have been informed about tryouts.
