Assistant Principal
Katherine Duncan
JMMS Administrator

Hello! I am thrilled to be the Teacher on Administrative Assignment at JMMS for the 2015-2016 school year. In this role, I will work alongside our teachers and the other administrators to keep Madison a safe and productive learning environment for our students. I strongly believe in the ability of every child to be successful, and I think strong communication between the school and families is essential in order to achieve that goal. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns, or needs at khduncan@rcps.info.

About Me

I am originally from Virginia Beach and graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in psychology (go Hoos!). I came to education through Teach for America, teaching special education in a high-needs charter school in Washington, DC while obtaining my M.Ed. in special education through George Mason University. I have also taught at a rural middle school in Greene County, Virginia, and at William Fleming here in Roanoke. I earned my degree in Administration and Supervision through U.Va. in the summer of 2015. Other than education, I love hiking, UVA sports (especially basketball), traveling, and spending time with my family and my dog, Emma.

Hello! I am thrilled to be returning to JMMS as the Assistant Principal for the 2017-18 school year. I am so proud of our students' many achievements over the past year - from meeting our SOL goals in all areas to winning titles in several sports - and look forward to seeing all the great things our Matadors will accomplish this year! Families, we welcome your participation and engagement - the best way to ensure student success is through strong partnerships between the school and community. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns, ideas, or needs at khduncan@rcps.info.
